The 500th Military Intelligence Brigade, headquartered at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, is postured across the Pacific to provide multi-disciplined intelligence support for joint and coalition warfighters in the Pacific Command area of responsibility under the operational control of Commander, U.S. Army, Pacific (USARPAC).
Transforming to meet the intelligence demands of full spectrum operations, the brigade is engaged in the full range of theater contingencies– from disaster relief and humanitarian assistance to planning for combat operations. Daily, the brigade conducts intelligence collection, analysis, and exploitation, as well as force protection and operational over-watch for US forces in the PACOM AOR. The 500th MI Brigade currently provides tactical intelligence support to Joint Special Operations Task Force – Philippines as part of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.
The 205th MI Battalion, located at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, provides all-source analysis, federated single source analysis and collection management for the USARPAC G2 through the theater ACE. Its HUMINT Company also provides interrogation support and source operations for the USARPAC Commander. The 205th MI Battalion deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM in 2005.
The 301st MI Battalion in Phoenix, Arizona, is a reserve component theater support battalion that provides multi-disciplined intelligence to USARPAC through home station reach operations and by deploying tailored collection teams to support operations and exercises in the theater. The 301st MI Battalion deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM in 2008.
The 441st MI Battalion (provisional), scheduled to transform to a forward collection battalion in FY12, conducts open source, counter-intelligence and human intelligence operations throughout the Pacific area of responsibility. Its headquarters is at Camp Zama, Japan.
The 715th MI Battalion, located at Schofield Barracks, conducts tactical and strategic signals intelligence operations to meet theater and national requirements under the operational control of NSA/CSS Hawaii. The 715th has taken the lead in tactical-to-strategic SIGINT integration with the recent attachment of the brigade's ground SIGINT Company, now D/715th, from the 205th MI Battalion.
By integrating evolving technology and leveraging reach-back analytical support and optimally positioned modular intelligence collection teams, the 500th MI Brigade continues to provide cutting edge intelligence support to Army, joint and coalition warfighters throughout the Pacific.
