Mission: The 500th Military Intelligence Brigade - Theater conducts multi-discipline intelligence collection and analysis, and sets the theater for intelligence for U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) within the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility, in order to provide timely, predictive intelligence to enable commander decision making.


The 500th Military Intelligence Brigade-Theater (MIB-T) is headquartered at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The Brigade is postured across the Pacific and has theater-wide collection and analytical responsibilities at the tactical, operational and strategic levels. The brigade also provides continuous force protection assessments, tactical and strategic over-watch, Foundry, red teaming and area of responsibility situational awareness for the warfighting decision makers.

The 500th MIB-T is composed of five subordinate battalions with Soldiers, Defense Department Civilians and contractors who stand ready to deploy throughout the Pacific Rim and into the sands of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The 205th Military Intelligence (MI) Battalion, located at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, provides all source analysis and collection in support of the USARPAC commander. The 205th MI Battalion deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005.

The 311st MI Battalion, located at Camp Zama, Japan, was re-designated from the 441st MI Battalion (provisional). Since its activation, the 311th MI Battalion is now fully operational and equipped to continue to provide support and train alongside U.S. Army Japan (USARJ) partner units, and Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) coalition partners. The 311th MI Battalion conducts continuous multi-discipline Intelligence operations ISO USARPAC operations and national level requirements in U.S. Indo-Pacific (USINDOPACOM) Area of Operation(AOR).

The 301st MI Battalion, located in Phoenix, Arizona, is a reserve component theater support battalion that provides multi-disciplined intelligence support to USARPAC and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) using reach operations and on order deploys tailored collection teams to support tactical operations and exercises forward in the AOR.

The 715th MI Battalion, located at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, conducts signals intelligence operations to meet theater and national requirements. In addition, the 715th MI Battalion has operational control of a new Army Reserve Element, which conducts split based operations in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., and Camp Pendleton, Calif.
