Chief Warrant Officer 5 Kevin G. Boughton is currently serving as the Command Chief Warrant Officer for the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM).

CW5 Boughton enlisted in the Army in 1988 from Freeport, Florida and graduated from Warrant Officer Senior Staff College, Fort Rucker, Alabama in 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Military Leadership and an Associate’s Degree in Administrative Management from Excelsior College, Albany, New York.

CW5 Boughton’s previous assignment was with B Company, 304th Military Intelligence Battalion, 111th Military Intelligence Brigade, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, as the Chief of the Military Intelligence Warrant Officer Training Branch/Chief of the Warrant Officer Committee.

From 2011–2015, CW5 Boughton was assigned to Headquarters, United States Special Operations Command as the Technical Director within the Signals Intelligence Requirements and Operations Branch (J24-S), Force Modernization Division of the USSOCOM J2. From 2006–2011 he was assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, NC where he served as the SIGINT Senior Technical Advisor on the J2 Staff.

CW5 Boughton served multiple tours in Afghanistan (4), Iraq (3) and Africa (1) in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism.

CW5 Boughton’s previous assignments as a Warrant Officer include the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade, Darmstadt, Germany (2004-2006); 3d Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, NC (2000-2004); and the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, NY (1998-2000).

Following enlistment in 1988, CW5 Boughton’s first MOS was as a 21G Pershing Electronics Material Specialist for the Pershing II Intermediate Range Nuclear Missile. In 1991, he re-classified into the Military Intelligence Corps as a 98C Signals Intelligence/Electronic Warfare Analyst.

CW5 Boughton’s enlisted assignments include the 56th Field Artillery Command (Pershing), Heilbronn, Germany (1989-1990); 214th Field Artillery Brigade, Fort Sill, OK (1990-1992); 703d Military Intelligence Brigade, Schofield Barracks, HI (1992-1995); XVIII Airborne Corps Military Intelligence Support Element, 297th Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC (1995-1996); United States Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, NC (1996-1997).

CW5 Boughton’s awards and decorations include: Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal (4 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Parachutist Badge and various service and campaign awards. In addition, CW5 Boughton’s SIGINT Section was awarded the National Security Agencies Directors Trophy for most outstanding Army Tactical SIGINT unit for contributions made during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002. CW5 Boughton is also a recipient of the Military Intelligence Corps Association KNOWLTON Award.
